Willie Ray Godwin

Willie Ray Godwin, 61, a resident of DeFuniak Springs, FL passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Harvill officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana, AL directing arrangements. Willie Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Lois Godwin, sister and brother in law, Edna and Wayne Spann, nephew, Ricky Kelley, and great niece, LaQuita Kelley. Survivors include: Wife: Luz (Lily) Gutierrez; Son: Hermer Echegaray; Daughter and son in law: Minexys Echegaray and Marshal Lee; Grandsons: Anthony Lee and Andy Lee, all of Fort Walton Beach, FL; Sister Barbara (James Bess) Godwin, Ponce de Leon, FL; Brothers: Travis Godwin, DeFuniak Springs, FL, Eddie (Kris) Godwin and Terry Godwin, both of Ponce de Leon, FL; Aunt Frances (Bob) Landers, Pintlala, AL; Uncle: Billy Gregory, Bonifay, FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ray served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves. He received two metals the National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior while serving in the Navy. What a glorious day it was when he met Jesus Christ.
