Raymond B Godwin

Sgt. Raymond Billy Godwin, born Jan. 28, 1926 and passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the age of 89. Raymond was preceded in death by his biological parents, William B Strickland and Cora Ingram Johnson, his adoptive parents, Travis and Olavee Godwin, daughter, Edna Spann, grandson, Harry E. Kelley, Jr (Ricky), great grand daughter, Laquita Kelley, brothers, James B. Strickland and Amos B. Godwin. Survivors include his Daughter, Barbara Godwin (James Bess), Pounce DeLeon, Fl; 4 Sons: Willie Ray (Lilly) Godwin, and Travis Godwin, both of DeFuniak Springs, Fl, Eddie (Kris) Godwin and terry Wayne Godwin, both of Ponce DeLeon, Fl; Grand Daughters: Susan (Frankie) Schofield, Georgiana, Al, and April Tenore, DeFuniak Springs, Fl; Grand Sons: Shelby Wayne (Michele) Spann, Dothan, Al, Daniel Ray Godwin and Jeffrey Wayne Godwin, both of Fort Walton Beach, Fl, Michael Godwin, DeFuniak Springs, Fl, Nathan Godwin, Ponce DeLeon, Fl, and Matthew Godwin, Freeport, Fl; 8 Great Grand Children and 3 Great Great Grand Children. Raymond was a Sargent in the United States Army-Co B 1st RN 54th Inf AP 139 USAREUR. He served and fought for our country in WWII. He also served as MP, Sheriff Deputy, and Intelligence Medical Trainer. A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015 from Johnson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Harvill officiating. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana, Al directing arrangements. Burial will follow in Brushey Creek Cemetery.
