Willie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He joined Saint Peter Number One Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Fred Banks. Throughout his trials and tribulations in life, Willie’s faith in God never wavered. He routinely attended and thoroughly enjoyed Church services held on Monday nights at Heritage Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center facilitated by Rev. Chambers.
Willie graduated from Newellton High School in May of 1974. He subsequently joined the U.S. Army on August 7, 1974. He served his country honorably for four years. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army, Willie relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. Willie worked faithfully as an employee for National Car Rental and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
In Las Vegas, he met and married Ms. Paula Hodapp. This union gave birth to two beautiful daughters: Nicole and Jessica. Willie loved his family. While his union to Ms. Hodapp dissolved, his love for his children never wavered.
Willie enjoyed fishing, singing, and family gatherings. His favorite sports were football and basketball. He was a devoted New Orleans Saints fan. His favorite basketball team was the Golden State Warriors.
Willie was called home to glory on November 9, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents: Jeremiah and Mary Williams; his brothers: Jerry, George, and Elmore; his sister: Elanda; his niece: Betty, and three nephews: Glenn (Sonny Boy), Eric, and Quentin.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory, two loyal and devoted daughters: Nicole and Jessica (Las Vegas, NV), three grandchildren: Eric, Wilfredo, Audreyanna and yet to be born: Jaelyn; Sisters: Edna Barnett, Ethel Tennie (Los Angeles, CA), Mary (Clifton) Jones, Round Rock, TX; Annie (Leonard) Joffrion (Apple Valley, CA); Barbara Williams (Austin TX): Alberta Smith (Newellton La); Niece (Sister), Cynthia (Melvin) Hutchinson, Rialto CA.; Brothers: Claude Williams (Newellton La); Randolph (Donna) Williams, San Antonio TX; Nephew (Brother) Ernest Barnett Jr, Round Rock, TX; and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
Willie will be missed greatly and he will live in our hearts forever.
