With heavy hearts, the family of Sondra M. Davis Baldwin conveys the passing of this remarkable lady on Friday, December 30, 2016 in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 77.
Sondra was born February 1, 1939 to parents Morris C. and Juanita M. (Wesson) Davis in Austin, Texas. She graduated from McCallum High School, Austin, in 1957. She was married to the love of her life, Robert E. “Bob” Baldwin, for over 50 years.
Upon moving to Georgetown in 1972, Sondra went to work at Piggly Wiggly as a cashier. She took a role at Southwestern University in the Dean of Students Office before taking a position in the Georgetown School system. She first served as Director of Food Services and then as secretary in the maintenance division, retiring in 2003 after 23 years of service to the school district.
All that knew her understood that Sondra’s greatest joy in life was her family and knew that they were her heart and soul, always having a smile and a warm welcome for all. She was truly a special and loving woman. She could be found every Tuesday and Friday morning at the Wal-Mart McDonald’s having coffee with the ladies. She also enjoyed a 12 o’clock club luncheon every month with her many special friends.
Sondra had a passion for supporting local sports teams. She could be found rooting for the Texas Longhorns and cheering on the Georgetown Eagles and the Southwestern Pirates.
Sondra is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Troy) Sanderfer and Diana (Mike) Keyes all of Georgetown; son, Bobby Baldwin (Mark Jowers) of Dallas; her grandchildren, Michael Gode, Megan (Joe) Sackal, Alison Sanderfer (McKenzie Hendrickson); her great-grandchildren, Aiden Sackal, Avery Sackal, Granger Hendrickson, and Ainslee Sackal; brothers, Bill (Chris) Davis of Austin, Donnie (Linda) Davis of Georgetown; and sister-in-law Ruth (Scott) Dill of Fisher, Indiana. She has many very special nieces and nephews that surrounded her life as well.
Sondra is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one grandchild, Kayla Marie Sanderfer.
The family will receive guests for a celebration of her life from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Crestview Baptist in Georgetown, Texas. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.
