Phyllis L. Finney, age 92, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. She was born on February 2, 1923 in Ogden, Illinois to parents Henry Harvey Cravens and Delpha Ellen Adams Cravens. Phyllis graduated from Georgetown High School in Georgetown, Illinois. She married Robert Allen Finney in Georgetown, Illinois on December 17, 1944.
She trained in cosmetology but decided her passion was in hospital work. Phyllis worked for Gardena Community Hospital and Gardena Memorial Hospital in Gardena, California as an Emergency and Hospital Admitting Clerk and in the Billing office. Upon retirement she volunteered at Hemet Community Hospital in Hemet, California and at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine, Texas. Phyllis was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and YMCA.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Robert Allen Finney and his wife Janet of Whitehall, Montana, James Harvey Finney and his wife Blanch of Perris, California, Mary Gail Wood and her husband Richard of Georgetown, Texas and Richard Phillip Finney and his wife Shirley of Mishawaka, Indiana; eight grandchildren and their spouses; fifteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; and one great great-granddaughter who is named after Phyllis.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Allen Finney, eight brothers and four sisters and their spouses.
A Memorial service to celebrate Phyllis’ life will be held 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown with Reverend Travis Franklin officiating.
