Olga Joanne Smeltzer

She was raised in Greensburg, Pennsylvania where she graduated Greensburg High School in 1947 and later Greensburg Business College in 1949. During her time at Greensburg High School, she met her adoring husband of 62 years Sylvester “Sy” Smeltzer.

On September 12, 1950 she wed her life-long love. She had a heart of service, serving as an active member in the Georgetown Church of Christ after serving faithfully at the Westover Hills Church of Christ for twenty-six years as an administrative secretary. True to form, she never hesitated in her abundant generosity, joyfully giving to organizations including, the Humane Society, the National Wildlife Federation, Veterans First, the National Federation for the Blind, the Closet of Liberty Hill and countless more.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elma Boyd, Garnet Bissell, Eleanore Rutherford, and Twila Walker; and brother, Glenn Ruff. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Sandra Ropka of San Antonio, Texas, Janet Brunette and husband Gerry of Georgetown, Texas, and Sharon Mott and husband George of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Shannon Anthony and husband Nick, Ryan Ropka and Crista Smith, Ashley Brunette, and Casey Mott; and great grandchildren, Josiah Ropka and Gavin Anthony.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Saturday, the 29th of December 2012, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. The funeral service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 30th of December 2012, at Georgetown Church of Christ with Elder Bill Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Ropka, Casey Mott, Nick Anthony and Rob Walters.
