Nancy Jane Wright, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Sun City, Texas on June 29, 2018. Nancy was born February 21, 1931 in Seattle, Washington to Warren C. and Adele Wright. She spent her youth in the Northwest, studying piano from an early age. She earned an Associate Degree in Music from Stephens College and went on to earn both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in piano performance from the University of Michigan. She moved to Alaska on a lark in 1959, where she married and had her first child, Janet. Following the Alaska earthquake in 1964, the family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where daughter Mary Beth was born. They spent several years in upstate NY, Missouri and finally settled in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
At age 50, Nancy began her career as a computer programmer for the government at Ft. Huachuca, eventually moving to the top of her division. Following retirement from civil service, Nancy became a successful realtor. She moved to Texas in 2001 to be closer to family and made a wonderful new life there.
Nancy was very active in the Sun City community and cherished her time there with her dear friends and colleagues. She was pianist for her church, San Gabriel Presbyterian for 14 years, and was a beloved accompanist for many musical groups in the Georgetown area, including the Sun City Singers and the annual Follies productions. Nancy was a generous friend and volunteer, and played piano regularly for patients and visitors at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital. Above all, Nancy loved her family and cherished time together. She was a shining example of strength, character and love. Her beautiful music and generous heart will be missed.
