Mary Ann Hardin was born on August 3, 1940 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to Marion Francis and Ofelia Hardin. She graduated from Killeen High School in 1958. She married James (Jim) Thomas Bass on April 3, 1959. Mary Ann and Jim owned Cove Plumbing Company in Copperas Cove until Jim’s death in 1981. Mary Ann then went on to work for KOOV Radio Station in Copperas Cove. She served as their Business Manager for several years.
Mary Ann was very committed to her community. She was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, Business and Professional Women’s Foundation and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She also served on the Copperas Cove Independent School District School Board for many years and served as an adult leader for 4-H.
Mary Ann enjoyed making cards with her daughters, painting, playing cards and games with friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mary Ann’s last years were spent in Georgetown, Texas at a retirement community where she made numerous wonderful friends. She loved participating in all the fun and games the community offered.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Marion Francis Hardin, Jr. and her husband, Jim.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, David Bass and wife Elizabeth (Libby) of Copperas Cove; Marci O’Brien and husband, Ron of Buchanan Dam; and Shari Darr and husband Duane of Belton. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Kristi and J.T. Bass; Elisa O’Brien; and Dillon and Kelsi Darr.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on April 8, 2015 at the Mariposa Apartments, 121 River Bend, Georgetown, Texas with Chaplain Ann Hagmann officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Killeen City Cemetery in Killeen, Texas with Chaplain Ann Hagmann. Family and friends are invited to attend.
