Linda Sue Sloan McCrary unexpectedly passed away on November 16, 2021 in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 76. Linda's loved ones will always remember her as a vivacious, generous, and loving woman that lived life tenaciously and blazed her own trail in this world.
Born with an entrepreneur’s heart, she wore many hats in her lifetime; when she had an idea, she pursued it fiercely. She was an entertainer, realtor, home builder, chef, designer, and her greatest feat, her baby and pride and joy was as founder and owner of the realty magazine, New Home Update. She spent countless hours at her kitchen table, in front of a little MAC screen, pursing an idea that led to such great success and enabled her to empower many other women in pursing their dreams at a time when it was still a “man’s world.” Linda was a visionary, role model, and lover of life. She had a passion for learning, cooking, singing, sewing, and so much more. Linda had many great adventures and successes in her life, but for her the greatest of these was always her family that she treasured, adored, and loved unconditionally.
Born on August 27, 1945, Linda was the youngest child of Virgie Luton Sloan and Theodore “Ted” Sloan. She had three older brothers, Johnny, Robert, and Dean Sloan. Born in Denison, Texas she grew up in the Sherman/Denison area where she met her husband of 54 years, Jerry Wayne McCrary. Between them they had five children, Lisa, Bradley, Stacy, Jeffrey “Jeff”, and Michael. Soulmates, Linda and Jerry, took on the world together hand in hand.
Linda is survived by her children, Lisa Marshall and husband Frank and children Zachary, Joshua, and Cooper; Stacy McCrary and husband Keith; Jeff McCrary and his children Parrish and husband Michael and Jerry (Jay); Michael McCrary and wife Kelly and children Blake, Caroline, and Trevor; stepson, Bradley McCrary, and wife Valarie and daughter Brooklyn; great granddaughter Calista Adelaide McCrary; and her brothers Johnny, Robert, and Dean Sloan. She also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne McCrary; parents, Virgie Luton Sloan and Ted Sloan; and granddaughters Lillian Faith McCrary and Sybil Alexis McCrary.
A Celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 12:00 on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Cimarron Hills Country Club in Georgetown.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
