Karen Ann Schroeder

Born February 9, 1944 and raised in Trenton, Illinois, she attended Mater Dei High School in Breese, Illinois before receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from St. Louis University. After a career as an electrical engineer with Emerson Electric Company in St. Louis, Missouri, she migrated to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1969.

While living and working in Texas, she met her husband, Paul, and they were married in 1973. Paul and Karen resided in Seguin, Texas for many years before relocating to San Antonio, Texas and eventually retiring to Georgetown, Texas. Family was always her first priority, especially after adopting her two children.

Karen found joy in being actively supportive of her children’s education and interests. Be it a volunteer librarian or coordinator for school summer programs, she continuously fostered a learning environment for her children and their classmates. She loved to read, dance, play bridge, and travel. Karen was always ready to lend an ear and give thoughtful advice. She enjoyed a good time with family and friends, and was the life of more than one party.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Gervais L. and Marguerite (Zieren) Brefeld.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Paul Schroeder; her two children, Dr. Robin Schroeder of San Antonio, Texas and Kourtney E. Schroeder, J.D. of Houston, Texas; and her sister, Suzanne Pfeffle of Pensacola, Florida. She has several nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home of Georgetown, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Andice, Texas. Reception will follow at 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown, Texas.
