John L. ( Johnny) Brackin went to be with the Lord October 21, 2012. He was born in Qulin, Missouri on February 26, 1922 to Isaac Albert Brackin and Laura Belvia Waters. Johnny completed eleven years of education.
He was a farmer at heart but could not support his young family and began his career at Holsum bakery. He later worked as a salesman with Gulf Welding and Supply for about eighteen years then continued as a salesman for Brown & Joiner for about the same amount of years.
Johnny never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents I.A. (Ike) and Belvia Brackin, a brother, C.H. (Pete) Brackin all of Rio Hondo, Texas, and a sister Mary Virginia (Ginger) Terry of Harlingen, Texas.
He is survived by two sisters, Lenora Vittetoe of Temple, Texas and Ruth Wheaton of Sabastian, Texas; a loving wife of sixty-eight years, Velma J. (Jean) Johnston Brackin of Georgetown, Texas; five children, Dianne Baldwin (Bob) of Round Rock, Texas, Gary L. Brackin (Tena) of Austin, Texas, Vickie Parvin (Terry) of West, Texas, Isaac (Ike) Brackin (Debbie) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Micheal Brackin (Kathy) of Destin, Flordia; ten grandchildren, Jeffery, John, Jimmie, Jeannie, Gary Jr., Marty, Amy, Tabitha, Jocelyn, and Jeremy; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins,and many other extended family members.
He will be lovingly missed by all.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6:00- 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home with Reverend Dennis Moody officiating. Entombment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Mausoleum Chapel in Pflugerville, Texas. Pallbearers are Jeffery Baldwin, John Baldwin, Jimmie Baldwin, Gary Brackin, Jr, Marty Parvin, and Jeremy Brackin. Honorary pallbearers are C.N. Marsh, Dale Marsh, Eddie James, Terry Parvin, Robert (Bob) Johnston and V.C. (Tip) Johnston.
