He was born in Georgetown on July 1, 1946 to Julio Hernandez and Sarah Diaz Hernandez. On June 22, 1964, he married Rebecca Ann Hernandez, and together they made their home and raised their family in Georgetown. He worked for Texas Crushed Stone from 1964 until his retirement in 1998. His faith was extremely important to him and he served as a Pastor for over 20 years and as a Senior Pastor for 23 years. From 1981 until 1996 he was a full time member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Georgetown, where he also served as the Co-Pastor. In 1998 he felt the call upon his life to serve in the ministry full-time. He left the Church of the Holy Spirit and became a member of New Life Ministry in Georgetown. He was still serving as the Senior Pastor at New Life Ministry at the time of his death. For over 40 years he traveled in a music ministry with the Faith Gospel Singers. His motto was “loving God, loving people, changing lives.”
He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and playing music. He was a talented musician and could play multiple instruments. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh at a good joke. He never met a stranger and he considered people that he didn’t know as friends he just had not met yet. He prepared his family for this moment and for eternal life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
