Janet Muench passed away on the evening of April 5th 2025. Born on March 23, 1938 in Elkhart Indiana, to Roy and Ethel Payne, where she lived until marriage to Lloyd David Muench on June 15, 1958. Janet had two sons David Lloyd Muench (June 1961) and Gary Allen Xouai (June of 1967). She also had family through marriage Gail Muench (wife to David), Erica Cymbalak (Granddaughter), Ryan Hobbs (Grandson), Brandon Hobbs (great grandson), Kyler Hobbs (great grandson) and four great great, grand children: Isaac Hobbs (4), Lilith Hobbs (1.5), Daxton Hobbs (4) and Oliver Tucker (2). She enjoyed many holidays with five generations present. Janet lived in many places: The Villages Florida, Columbus Ohio, Deerfield Wisconsin, to name a few recent places., Most recently she and Lloyd moved to Round Rock, Texas to be closer to her family. She enjoyed this year being able to visit family frequently.
Janet had musical ability that started with the Cello in school which she played as first chair in high school orchestra and with an ensemble that entertained audiences. She moved to the piano which she loved to play. She enjoyed playing Ragtime and Broadway music. Her church has always been very important to Janet. Everywhere she lived she participated in the Presbyterian church. She loved Jesus and was a devout Christian. Her faith sustained her through many challenges and health issues. She demonstrated her faith through service like volunteering for Hospice. Janet cared for her family in a traditional role as mother and homemaker, but still found time to work. Her favorite job was in the Marketing department for National Church Residences where she could use her creative and publishing skills. Janet was a Democrat, believing that the government should serve the people.
Janet was proud of her Swedish heritage, where she and her mother would cook Swedish foods and display Swedish things. She was able to visit Sweden and meet her relatives still living there. She felt very welcomed by them as they helped her tour the country.
Janet loved to knit. She always had her latest project with her, in the car or at home. She was always knitting. Over the years she contributed sweaters and socks to friends and family, as well as prayer blankets or lap robes to church events. She passed away with two projects underway. Janet also enjoyed travel and camping with her growing boys.
Janet acquired her Associate degree in Teaching from Steven’s College in Columbia Missouri with highest honors and a Bachelor degree from Baldwin and Wallace College while taking care of two boys and a job.
Memorial Services will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church on Gattis School Road in Round Rock, Texas at 3:00 PM central time, Saturday, April 12, 2025
Janet would like to be remembered as a friend. She hoped other people would learn to be kind and friendly from her. She lived life joyfully.
