Gloria Lenore Thompson

Gloria Lenore Thompson, age 80, died September 2, 2022, at her home in Austin. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she attended Holy Name Catholic High School and graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She attended St. Louis Catholic church in Austin where she taught CCD class and sang in the folk mass while raising her family. She was a cub scout leader for all the neighborhood children and owned a neighborhood sandwich shop. She worked for the Texas State Bar Association. She enjoyed running in the Capital 10K and Laguna Gloria 10K with her coworkers.

Later in life, she moved to the Dallas / Fort Worth area where she worked at the American College of Emergency Physicians as a Chapter Manager. She enjoyed traveling to New Mexico, Florida, Arizona, Arkansas, and San Francisco and loved to fish, camp, and explore the outdoors and visit all her grandkids with her previously deceased husband Pete Thompson.

She is survived by her brother Bill Plank (spouse Christine) sons Steve Thiel (spouse Jodi) and Joe Thiel (spouse Holly) and daughter Mary Thiel and grandchildren Kayla, Joey, Katie and Cole as well as her 2 stepsons, Tommy Thompson, and Patrick Thompson
