Glen Franklin Johnson, 90, of Round Rock, Texas passed away at his home on June 26th, 2021 with his wife and daughters by his side. He was born to George Washington Johnson and Thelma Williminia Faulkner Johnson on November 23rd, 1930. He married Doris Ray Heatherly on November 3rd, 1951 at the home of Rev. J.B. Head, in East St. Louis.
Mr. Johnson worked for the Boy Scouts of America for 43 years. As a Boy Scout himself, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He also served as a volunteer. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas for 21 years. Glen and Doris helped obtain promises from 25 members from their Sunday School class to donate $20 a month to a ministry at a poverty stricken apartment complex. Glen took over as the accountant for 8 years. The ministry helped 100 teens and children accept Jesus. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many days on the golf course with his golfing partners. He was proud to have hit a hole-in-one twice!
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 70 years, Doris; his four daughters, Deborah Meskill (Michael) of Killeen, TX, Yvonne Trinkle (Dennis) of Greencastle, IN, Tina Harrington (James) of Georgetown, TX, and Teri Lewis (Milton) of Indianapolis, IN; and his sister Anna Louise LaTurner of Lee Summit, MO. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
To honor Mr. Johnson's life, a memorial service will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Dr., Georgetown, Texas 78628.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wesleyan Homes Foundation in honor of Mr. Johnson at P.O. Box 486 Georgetown, Texas 78627-0486. In addition, condolences may be mailed to Mrs. Doris Johnson at 139 Estrella Crossing Apt. 134 Georgetown, Texas 78628.
