General Dotson

General M. "Tub" Dotson of Jarrell, Texas, left us to be with the Lord on the day He gave us 11/26/2011. Born in Henly, Texas on the same day 90 years earlier, he was one of 11 children of Joseph Edward and Maude Dotson. He served in the United States Army from 1938 to early 1946 during World War II. He worked in construction until his retirement. He moved to Jarrell in 1972, where he resided until his death.

He married his lifetime love, Hazel Velma (Dyer) Dotson on January 11, 1940. They raised 5 kids together. He is preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, three sisters, wife Hazel (2004), and daughter-in-law Bonnie Dotson.

He is survived by his children, Claud Dotson and wife Ruth of Jarrell, Texas, GM "Tiny" Dotson and wife Renate of Jarrell, Texas, Emma Bell of Sulphur, Louisiana, Donnie Dotson and wife Sandy of Belton, Texas and Dale Dotson and wife Susan of Jarrell, Texas.

He is also survived by 17 Grandchildren, 46 Great-Grandchildren, and 22 Great Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Corn Hill Cemetery in Jarrell, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jesse Bell, Johnny Dotson, Scotty Dotson, Jacob Dotson, Robert Piatt, Donnie Allen Dotson, Johnny Ray Dotson and Ronny Hahn. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Hughs, Dakota Hughs, Joseph Townsend and David Little.
