Genaro Jr. was born on the 9th of October, 1949, in Eola, Texas, to Genaro Contreras Ramos Sr. and Venselada Espinosa Ramos. He was the 9th child of seventeen. Growing up he enjoyed playing football, baseball and fishing. He would also escort his sisters to school.
Genaro Jr. met the love of his life, Eloiza “Lois” Ramos, at a football game in Georgetown, Texas and they were soon married (48 years). They went on to have five children and eleven grandchildren. Genaro’s superior work ethic was next to none.
Not only did he devote several years working at Texas Crushed Stone to provide for his family, but he was also quick to lend a hand to family and friends in need. In his “spare time” he would reiterate his work ethic to his children by loading the family up to tend to the yards of not only his parents but family and friends as well. He loved working on his vehicles and made sure his children knew how to maintain theirs. He was always quick to lend a mechanical hand to his sisters-in-law and he always wanted to know how your car was running.
When he truly took advantage of his downtime you could find him fishing with his family or cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He was a devoted Catholic and would enjoy trips to the San Juan Catholic Church.
If you asked Genaro what his greatest accomplishment in life was, he would smile and say being a “Buelo.” His grandchildren will forever be his pride and joys. He made sure he taught them how to fish and attended as many athletic events and recitals as possible. He was always the first to encourage them to dream big and shoot for the stars.
