Esther was a devoted wife to her beloved husband Felix Diaz Barrera of 58 years and a loving mother to her children, Bobby, Rick, and Danny Isaac who left us too soon. She leaves behind her husband Felix Diaz Barrera. Her sons, Bobby Barrera, and wife Maria; Rick Barrera, and wife Mary Ann. Her beloved Grandchildren, Evan Robert Barrera; Angelica Wisian and husband Ross Wisian; Miranda Danielle Barrera; and Isaiah Richard Barrera. She reunites in Heaven with her beloved youngest son, Danny Isaac Barrera. Esther also leaves behind a large sibling family of Garcia and Guajardo brothers and sisters in which she loved immensely. And numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Esther was born on January 29, 1946, in Georgetown TX and was a lifetime resident of Georgetown. As a child growing up, she always wanted to do what her brothers were doing. Her brothers would tell her no, this made her more determined to do what she wanted. She was very competitive, and strong in will and in mind. She, her husband, and kids attended Pastor Elias Guajardo church, Church of the Holy Spirit for many years in which she was a Counselor and counseled and prayed over many people. She also attended Shoreline Christian Center in Austin, Tx. She loved going to Shoreline because her son Danny loved going there.
She worked for GISD food services all her adult life until she retired. And sometimes if you were family, she would give a little extra something on your lunch tray. She made many great friends working there.
Esther enjoyed spending time talking on the phone, shopping, and eating with her sisters, Janie, Rosie, and Elvia. She was well known for her passion for shopping and pretty clothing, always finding the best deals and sales. She would spend hours out shopping and could window-shop with the best of them.
Esther was a Godly woman ALL her life. She was devoted to her Jesus, the life of Christianity, her Faith, and to Prayer. A true prayer warrior, spending countless hours on her knees praying for individuals by name; each one at a time. A mother's love so deep, she would do anything and everything for her children and grandchildren to know and serve the Lord.
She will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, being courageous, determined, adventurous, bold, devoted to her family, and most of all putting God first in her life. She will also be remembered for her love of an instant cup of coffee first thing in the morning, and playing Christian music literally all day long in her house. Her legacy will be remembered through the countless lives she touched with her selflessness and generosity.
May we find solace in knowing that she is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before us. She leaves behind a profound impact that will forever resonate within the hearts of all who knew her. Esther is a testament to running the race with endurance. 2 Timothy 4:6-8
