Elijah Armfield Johns

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Ann Johns, his son & daughter-in-law, Wiley and Shirley of Elgin; his daughter & son-in-law Donna & Jody Jolly of Comanche; amd his daughter & son-in-law, Sharon & Travis Marburger of Bertram; 10 grandkids; and 13 great grandkids. He is also survived by 2 brothers and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Gracie Johns, 2 brothers and a sister, & a granddaughter, Alishia Ann Jolly.

Junior was born June 9, 1942 in a little home off Bagdad Rd between Leander & Liberty Hill. He was a social butterfly; he never met a stranger. He loved to tell stories about his past endeavors, and if you were lucky enough to hear him tell one, then you know just how over the top or comical they could be. He could have been a great politician with his social skills and knowledge of politics and history. He was very passionate about politics and being a Democrat.

He loved to brag on his grandkids and great grandkids and teach them all the things he knew. He taught us all a little something during his many years here on earth. He was proud of his children and all they had accomplished. His favorite hobbies and pastimes were reading, watching old westerns, and growing a garden. He loved mowing the yard, right up to the very end.

He was a jack of all trades, so to say, as he never had just one trade, he did a little bit of everything. Truck driver, heavy equipment operator, fence builder, cedar chopper, carpenter, wood hauler, recycling, and he cooked some of the best brisket you ever eat.

He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He could have taught us all a lot more. RIP

A visitation for Elijah will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78628. A graveside service will occur Monday, December 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Williams-Buck Cemetery, 1035-1069 Co Rd 202, Liberty Hill, TX 78642. Everyone is welcome to attend a bereavement dinner immediately following the service from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 9644 CR 272, Bertram, Texas 78605.

Serving as pallbearers are Malcolm Jolly, Scott Jolly, Skylar Crawford, Stephen Corley, Hayden Johns and Bailey Urban.
