Dr. Cheryl Reneé Springer was born January 11, 1957 in Odessa, Texas, the daughter of Jimmy and Sandra (Stephens) Couch. She passed from this life January 21, 2023 in Georgetown, Texas, at the age of 66.
Cheryl had lived in Georgetown for the past 6 years, moving here from Lawton, Oklahoma. She was a Psychologist PhD, and Substance Abuse Counselor for the United States Army and affectionately referred to as “Doc Springer” by her soldiers. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Cheryl loved her horses, and Maltese puppies, and was passionate about learning to use Equine Assisted Psycho-Therapy with soldiers suffering from PTSD. Cheryl was a lifelong learner and focused on helping other people heal and become better in the mental health and interpersonal relationship areas. She was staunchly pro-life. Her primary passion and goal in life was to be of service to others, to love, know, and serve God. Cheryl and Ross Springer were united in marriage on March 11, 2007 in Reno, Nevada and shared 15 years together.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Toby and Mark. She is survived by her husband, Ross Springer of Georgetown; daughter, Samantha Collins; grandchildren, Brianna, Faith and Ian; brother, Jimmy Couch; sisters, Christopher, Cecelia and Sharon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rosary services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 9:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8626 FM 1105, Jarrell, Texas 76537, with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Church cemetery. Cheryl and Ross request in lieu of flowers, that donations in her memory go to The Wounded Warrior Project, Tuskegee Airmen affiliated charities, Veterans Charities, Mental Health-PTSD and/or Suicide Prevention, or other charities of your choosing. Per Cheryl’s request, there will be no viewing.
