He was born in Gary, Indiana on January 10, 1931, the son of late John and Kathryn Kapica, and was the youngest of 9 siblings.
On January 20, 1951 he married Mary Ann Saegert, his sweetheart since grade school, and they celebrated their 67th anniversary this year.
Cas enlisted in the United States Navy in the fall of 1951 and spent 4 years as a load master in logistics and supported air field operations at various air bases around the world. After his tour of duty Cas worked at US Steel in Gary, Indiana for 30 years in various capacities before retiring and relocating to Siloam Springs, Arkansas where he worked for an additional 10 years as a supervisor at the Gates Rubber Company.
Cas enjoyed golfing, watching the Chicago Cubs, and spending time with his family. He also liked fixing lawnmowers, weed eaters, and other mechanical devices and donated many hours to the “The Caring Place” in that capacity.
Cas is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; children, John, Kelly and their spouses Julie and John respectively; grandchildren, Emily and Travis Fraser, Marcus and Shelby Edmondson, Kristen Kluberg and Kim Lacorte, Lauren and Andrew Collins, and Jon and Ashley Carr; six great grandchildren, Johnny, Jaxon, Cameron, Payton, Evelyn and Kayla; and one dog, Bitsy. He is preceded in death by his brothers Walter and Steve and sisters Jenny, Mary, Stella, Irene, Genny, and Sophie.
Cas’s life will be celebrated at Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown, Texas on August 11, 2018 at 11:00AM. Private Military Honors will be celebrated on August 13, 2018 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
