Betty was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Liles Cain in April of 2015. She is survived by her three children: Larry Cain and wife Dixie, Cindi Cain Fowler and husband Thomas, and Perry Cain; grandchildren: Cotonya Elizabeth Schexnaydre Sifford and husband James, Karen Suzanne Schexnaydre and husband Dave, Christopher Liles Cain, and Britney Michelle Cain; and great-grandchildren: Johnathan Liles Kennedy, Aidan Dugas Schexnaydre, Mila Chantel Cain, Charlie William Sifford, and Caitlyn Elizabeth Sifford.
Betty was the daughter of Ed Coton Hanby Sr. and Mae Elizabeth (Yelverton) Hanby. She met her husband, Kenneth Liles Cain in Shreveport, Louisiana, where they were married on August 8, 1948 (8/8/48 just so he would remember). They traveled to several locations with the FAA including a final assignment in Austin where they raised their 3 children. Betty was actively involved in the 70s as an officer with the Zeta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she supported the community and met many of her lifelong friends. She and her husband ultimately retired in Georgetown, Texas.
Betty had a special love for all of God’s little creatures. Betty was very personable and never met a stranger. If you crossed her path once, she would remember your name and she would talk to you as if you had been friends for years. Betty “MawMaw” Cain will always be remembered for her beautiful smile that would light up a room. As a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, our hearts are with her. We will miss and love her forever.
We wish to thank John Schexnaydre and Sharon Fowler for all the care, comfort, and love they provided to Betty over the years.
Betty truly loved all the friends she made and the wonderful staff at The Oaks Gracious Retirement Living and Wesleyan at Scenic of Georgetown. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the staff of St. David's Medical Center for their support and care of Betty and her family.
