Alfonso was forever married to Dominga Garza Vasquez of Jarrell with a total of 12 children.
Alfonso is survived by his children, Queta Olivarez, Lupe Ortiz, Raul Ortiz, Lydia Ortiz Alaniz, and Paula Ortiz Hendy and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Alfonso Vasquez was loved and adored by many. To siblings, children, family and friends he was “Poncho”. To grandchildren and great grandchildren he was “TatTa”. But no matter what you called him, there was one common bond. He was deeply loved, respected, and cherished by all.
Alfonso was a simple, loving, and kind man. He loved fishing, gardening, the Dallas Cowboys, BBQing, and being with his family. In his earlier years you would find him picking cotton until he was hired at Odell Geer Construction Company where he retired as a concrete finisher.
He lived his life in service to others. He was a jack of all trades and used his skills to help anyone doing a project. His doors were always open to help those in need, never asking for anything in return.
He left his children, grandchildren and family a legacy of compassion, kindness and love. He was an example of serving others without judging or questioning. He always listened to others and would humbly give his advice.
Whether he was Alfonso, Poncho, or TaTa to you, everyone who had the honor of knowing and loving him will forever be blessed by the example he led and the hearts he touched.
