Son of the late Leonard and Jean Rathwell. Beloved husband of the late Susan Stiles. Dear father of Wendy, Donna (Norm), Colleen (Les), and Stephen (Isobel). Grandfather to Shane (Jody), Matthew, and Allison (Tammy). Brother of Ivan (deceased), Owen, Leona (deceased), Keith, Carol (deceased), Darryl, and Wayne.
Morris achieved his Bachelor of Arts in history from Sir George Williams University. He taught high school and elementary school in Morin Heights for 30 years and coached high school basketball and hockey.
Morris was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. He won 17 club championships at the Arundel Golf Club and scored 3 holes-in-one. At the age of 50 he achieved his Coureur de Bois gold medal in the Canadian Ski Marathon. In his retirement, he designed, built, and operated a 9-hole, par 3 golf course next to his home.
Morris wrote a detailed history of the Rathwell family. Also, for its 150th anniversary, he wrote the history of Arundel, with input from many of the residents of the village.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
