Zonia Belle Phillips

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5) was a verse Zonia Belle Phillips, 92 of Cramerton lived by. She was the matriarch of five generations. Her family will remember her faith, her gentle spirit and her fresh made biscuits and gravy. Zonia was devoted to her family. She enjoyed listening to preaching on the radio and she liked to make patch work quilts. Her strong faith helped her in raising her ten children.

Zonia passed away Saturday May 21, 2016.

Zonia was the daughter of the late Pearson Anderson and Lucy Jane Farr Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Crawford Phillips and will be laid to rest by his side; one daughter, Betty Lou Phillips and two sons, William Phillips and Verlin Phillips, five brothers and one sister.

Left to cherish her memories is her children Lure Anderson and her husband Willard, Evelyn Mason and husband Charles, James Phillips and wife Regina, Sara Garver and husband Randy, Larry Phillips, David Phillips and wife Tamera, Roger Phillips and wife Sherry and Patricia Phillips her daughter in law; and two sisters – Ellavee Childers and Viola Gentry, 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, May 24, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina

A Celebration of Zonia’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday May 25th, 2016 at North Gaston Church of God, 1310 Dallas-Cherryville Highway, Dallas, North Carolina. Minister Lonnie Harris will deliver the message and offer words of comfort to Zonia’s family and friends. Active pallbearers are: Derek Phillips, Danny Anderson, Tim Ballard, Bryan Phillips, Daniel Knight, Jesse Knight, Doyle Anderson and Jeff Anderson.

Graveside committal and interment will be held Wednesday May 25, 2016, following the Celebration of Life, at Gaston Memorial Park.
