YORK, S.C. - William “Bill” Avery Pate, 55, passed away at his residence Sunday,
Sept. 4, 2011, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late Avery Billie and Jean
Edwards Pate.
Bill was a graduate of Harding High School, Charlotte, and was an employee of
HPS, Charlotte, for 24 years, as their service manager.
He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, York, S.C., serving as
brotherhood director, youth Sunday school teacher, with four years perfect
attendance, and choir member.
Bill is survived by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Barrett Pate; one daughter,
Michelle Redmond and husband, Tommy of Gastonia; two sons, Neil Pate and wife,
Tracy of Belmont, Michael Lee Holloway of Gastonia; three sisters, Lynn Pate of
Hagerstown, Maryland, Sharon McKeown of Chester, S.C, Joy Marsh of Rock Hill,
S.C.; eight grandchildren, Will Pate, Kathryn Pate, Avery Pate, Gage Holloway,
Stone Holloway, Aidan Holloway, Brittany Redmond, Hunter Redmond.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bethel Baptist
Church, 4160 Hands Mill Highway, York, S.C.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev.
Bart Plaxco officiating.
Interment will be private and at a later date.
