William “Glenn” Huskins, Jr., 74, of Gastonia passed away Sunday June 23, 2024. Glenn was born July 21, 1949 in Gastonia to the late Irene (Sparks) Huskins and William Glenn Huskins, Sr. When he finished High School Glenn was drafted and as a young man, he proudly and faithfully served his country in the Vietnam War. Glenn was a “male nurse,” repeatedly going to the front lines to rescue, treat and take to safety his fellow soldiers. He was shot down two times and he became a decorated Vietnam War Veteran. Unfortunately, like many other veterans, the war and the treatment he received from other when he returned home had a serious impact on his life. Glenn was proud of his Military Service.
Following his military service Glenn worked in the construction supply business where he became a highly praised salesperson. Glenn was outstanding in his career, even serving twice as the president of the Lincoln County Home Builders Association. Glenn loved Classic Rock and Roll and Shag Beach Music. He was a fan of both Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nix .Glenn enjoyed concerts including attending a Stevie Nix Concert. Glenn also loved to dance. He was a shag dancer and many of the other shagers like to dance with him because he was “a good dancer.” Glenn liked to go deep-sea fishing. At home, he fished, bowled and even tried a little golf. Glenn had a regular Wednesday night meeting where he thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with his friends. Glenn was a regular blood donor with The American Red Cross. He gave over 11 gallons in total and he wished that he could have donated more. Glenn also had the habit of bringing “goodies” to several places he did business with. Glenn touched many others people’s lives and he will be truly missed.
Glenn leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Teresa (Wiley) Huskins and his son Chad Huskins and Chad’s wife Lisa Huskins. Glenn’s legacy includes his beautiful granddaughter Emma Grace Huskins. Grieving the loss of their brother are his sister, Myra (Huskins) Bullington and his brother, Craig Huskins, Craig’s wife Kris Huskins and Kris and Craig’s son, and Glenn’s nephew, Rodney Huskins.
A service celebrating Glenn’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday June 28, 2024.
