He retired from Charlotte Pipe and Foundry with over 40 years of service. Thurman was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Gastonia. He loved to watch Westerns and was an avid NASCAR fan. But most of all, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in passing by his wife of 49 years, Brenda Tallent Baucom; grandson, Tyler Grahl; and nine siblings, Daniel Baucom, Jr., Ann Baucom Pence, Warren Baucom, Gretchen Nevison, Leliah Hanline, Paul Baucom, Samuel Baucom, and Ruth Baucom.
Thurman is survived by his son, Clinton Baucom (Michelle); daughter, Michelle Langford (Mike); grandchildren, Zachary Medlin, Joshua Medlin (Ramsey), Wesley Baucom (Kayla), Shannon Langford, and Charles Langford; and sister, Alice Counts.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. A committal service will immediately follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Gaston County, American Lung Association or Grace Baptist Church Youth.
