Thelma (Greenwood) Martin

Thelma retired after 32 years with Carolina Mills as a Packer, then went on to work 7 years with the Gaston County School System in the cafeteria at McAdenville Elementary School. After full retirement, she enjoyed serving meals at the Gastonia Street Ministry to those in need and spending time with her family. She was a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church Crouse, NC.

In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Martin; brothers, Fraylow Greenwood, William Greenwood; sister, Mary Patterson.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Shelia McCurry and husband Monte of Lowell, NC; son, Dale Martin and wife Martha of Kings Mountain, NC; son, Steve Greenwood and wife Marie of Clover, SC; grandson Kyle McCurry and wife Suzette of Bessemer City, NC; granddaughter Ashley McCurry Jenkins and husband Joseph of Bessemer City, NC. grandson Chris Greenwood an Gina Hacker of Clover, SC; grandson Steve Greenwood II of Grover, NC; granddaughter Donna Evans and husband Robbie of Hickory Grove, SC; eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating Thelma’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday February 14, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina. The family will receive friends one hour before the service beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the Celebration of Life Service at Gaston Memorial Park. Pastor Dennis bean of Anthony Grove Baptist is the officiant and he will offer words of encouragement and hope to family and friends that gather to remember Thelma.
