She will always be remembered by her family as the “consummate” mother and grandmother, the matriarch of her family, always putting family and others before herself. She was known to rule with an iron fist “coated with love”. Sharon was the best listener, never complained, loved shopping and interior decorating. Her home looked like a page from a magazine. Sharon always got the “presidential” treatment with love from her family, and her favorite spot in the world was on the porch looking at her beloved beach.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 50 years, Carl Field of Gastonia; children, Grant Field and wife, Tammy of Gastonia, Michael Field and wife, Kimberly of Dallas and Jennifer Boryla and husband, Bruce of Gastonia; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Dusenberry of Dayton, OH.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1915 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia. Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Monday, October 26 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church backpack program.
