Samuel “Sam” Martin Elliott, 69, of Lowell, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2024. Sam was born in Little River, SC on December 29, 1954. Sam was a loving family man. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his kids and grandkids and he even had great-grandchildren. Sam worked hard his whole life. He worked for Pharr Yarn for over 25 years before retiring. Sam was a specialist on one of the mill’s machines and he often had to go in seven days a week to keep the machines operating. Sam loved all kinds of music. He mostly listened to classic rock and country Sam also used to love recording his family. He made video recording and took many pictures. He loved technology and he had the latest in recording and photographic equipment when it became available. He also enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and The Dallas Cowboys. He collected Model Cars. He made some of them himself from kits and he purchased others to add to his collection. Sam’s love of electronic spilled over into computers. He had a whole room dedicated to his computer collection. His faithful companion was his dog (who he spoiled rotten) Romo. He had a fascination with the moon and he liked watching it and taking pictures of it.
His grandchildren all say that he was the best grandpa ever. Sam had his quirks and his family lovingly remembers that he insisted on white rice with gravy at “every meal.” His home was a welcoming home and his family says that everyone in the family has stayed with him and his wife, Teresa, at some point. He was lovingly know as Uncle Sam to all his nieces and nephews. Sam and Teresa’s home was the family hub of the Elliott Family. His passing has affected many. He leaves a big hole in many hearts. His family will not be the same without him. Sam’s family, friends, neighbors and co-workers are missing him.
Sam is preceded in death by a grandson, Devin Elliott, his parents, Minnie (McLamb) Elliott and Corbert Elliott. Three of his brothers, Leonard Elliott, Bunk Elliott and Ted Hinson have all gone on before him.
