Robert “Bob” Wray Warren, 88, of Grover, North Carolina passed away peacefully, on to his heavenly reward, on Tuesday August 15, 2023. Bob was born in Gaston County on December 13, 1934 to his parents Rose (Stowe) Warren and Lloyd Jackson Warren. Bob was busy all the time. Words do not adequately describe his full life. Bob was a dedicated Christian. His Christianity influenced everything he did. He was constantly visiting the sick in nursing homes and he had a very active prison ministry. He grew up in Flint Groves Baptist church. He taught Sunday School and RAs. He enjoyed square dancing and he loved to tinker. He often worked on cars and he especially enjoyed working on VWs.
Bob never meet a stranger. He was a proud American. He served his county in The United States Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Bob was humble about his service. He did not let many people know he was a bronze star recipient. After his Army career, he became a machinist and he worked in the tool and dye industry until he retired for a second time. Bob was a card-carrying member of the NRA and he supported President Trump. He was the president of Hospice’s widows and widowers support group. He met his current wife, Betty, in this support group. Bob’s passing will leave a large hole in many people’s lives. He will be missed by his family, his friends, his church, his neighbors and all that knew and loved him.
Preceding Bob in death are his parents and his first wife, Elaine (Boyter) Warren. She as was the mother of their children. She passed away in December of 1996. Bob and Elaine were married 31 years, before Elaine passed. His sisters, Evelyn Mc Donald and Earlene Gay and brother, Lawson Warren and Henry Warren all preceded him in death.
Grieving the loss of Bob and carrying on his legacy are his wife of 21 years, Betty (Vess) Warren and his children Robin (Warren) McIntosh and her husband Ed McIntosh and Robert “Scott” Warren and his wife Joanie Warren. Missing their grandfather are his three grandsons, Ryan Simpson, Gage Warren and Brayden Warren.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be at 9:30 am on Friday August 18, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. Bob will be buried immediately following the celebration of life service in the Garden of Honor at Gaston Memorial Park. Reverend Russ Bradley of New Hope Baptist Church, in Earl, NC will officiate. His pallbearers are Ryan Simpson, Gage Warren, Paul Marlow, Chris Rodgers, and Andy Eskridge.
