He was a wonderful husband, father and an amazing grandfather. He loved the Lord and was always grateful for the life and blessings that the Lord gave to him and Julie. Robbie proudly served his country in the United States Navy and will be buried with Military Honors. He enjoyed watching westerns and playing video games with his family. Robbie loved going outside and sitting with Julie and the kids in the back yard and spending quality time with his family. He could make Vienna wiener kabobs with a truck key and loved to get hoop cheese when going fishing. Robbie always knew how to work himself into “my good fishing spot”. His laugh was contagious and would go from head to toe. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of thirty-two years, Julie Ledford of Kings Mountain, NC; two children, Robert Joseph Tilley Jr. of Kings Mountain and Valerie Mentock and fiancé Jeremy Ruda of Kings Mountain; mother, Shirley Tilley of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Alley and Ben Mentock; sister, Ruby Hill of Kings Mountain; and Gail Spencer his favorite mother-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Tilley and one sister, Julie Griffin; and grandparents, Robert and Ruby Stinette.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
