

Rosalind Ramona Reinhardt-Hammond, Ramona too many, “Mona” to her friends, passed on peacefully around midnight on June 21st under a full, pink “Strawberry Moon”. Daughter of Charles Edward Reinhardt and Ruth Elizabeth Homesley Reinhardt and originally from Gastonia, NC., Ramona attended North Fulton High School in Atlanta, GA and then received a BA in Education from the University of South Carolina and a Masters Degree in Education from The College of Charleston. A member of Portland United Methodist Church in Freeport, FL, Ramona held her faith close to her heart. A leader in Community Bible Study and a dedicated Sunday school teacher for many years at Village Baptist Church in Destin FL. She lovingly taught Vacation Bible School for over thirty years; it was her favorite time of year. She founded “Camp Pink” as a way to bring young girls together in fellowship and fun. In the mid-seventies, Ramona piloted and taught the first ever high school program for pregnant teens in Charleston, SC. She furthered her devotion to young people in need, as a Regional Leader of Operation Christmas Child. A true Southern Belle, Mrs. Ramona touched all who were lucky enough to know her.
She will be forever missed by her husband, Dempsey Bennett Hammond, Jr., her two children Charles Reinhardt McGarvey and Rosalind Elizabeth Hammond and her sister Rhonda Ruth Reinhardt Simmons.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 25th at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Dr., Gastonia, NC 28054. Graveside and committal service will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM prior to the service.
