Peggy Colleen Williams

Peggy “Colleen” (Petty) Williams, 89, of Gastonia passed away Saturday August 12, 2017. Colleen was a proud Army veteran having served in Japan in the early 50’s. She was a long time member of The American Legion in Gastonia, and retired as a Vice President at The National Association of Hosiery Manufacturers in Charlotte, NC. Colleen always believed in doing the right thing. She was giving and selfless, loved animals, sewing and fishing. She will be missed.

Colleen was the daughter of the late Junior Lee Petty and Verdie Thelma (Medlin) Petty. Her husband of more than 30 years, Harry Bickett Williams, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are sisters: Betty Sue Sasser, Joyce Mayo Kitchen and Nancy Yarborough and brother, Maxwell Eugene Petty.

Left to remember Colleen are her sister, Sarah Ruth Mullinax; nephews, Todd Morgan Mullinax and Matthew Shawn Mullinax; niece, Ginger Renee Milbank.

A private graveside service for Colleen will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Charlotte Memorial Gardens in Charlotte, NC.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Colleen’s name to the Gaston County Humane Society, 114 Sherrill Road, Gastonia, NC 28052
