Minnie Sherer Morgan

Apex, North Carolina - Minnie Barton Sherer Morgan, 90, of Apex and formerly of Belmont and Cramerton, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the home of her son, Michael Sherer. Mrs. Morgan was born in Unaka, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Henry and Levada Burger Barton.

Mrs. Morgan had lived in the Wake County area for the past 2 ½ years at Carillon Assisted Living. Mrs. Morgan was a very active member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Belmont and formerly was an employee of Holy Angels, Belmont.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by one daughter, Yvonne Olivia Sherer Smith and husband Frank of Long Beach, Mississippi; one son, Robert Michael Sherer and wife Carolyn of Apex; one granddaughter, Michele Smith Cuellar of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three great grandchildren, Kristina, Michael and Nicholas Cuellar of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at The Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Binger officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Robert Odell Sherer; 2nd husband, James A. Morgan; grandson, Frankie R. Smith; three sisters, Dora Norwood, Myrtle Hoover, Bessie McClure; four brothers, Stanley Barton, Pershing Barton, William Barton, Luther Barton.
