Marvin Alexander Barker Jr.

Marvin Alexander Barker Jr., 67 of Gastonia, passed away Wednesday May 10, 2017 with his family and close friends by his side. Marvin loved hot rods, muscle cars and all types of race cars. Marvin loved to rebuild engines. He was an accomplished mechanic. He was also a passionate dog lover. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and animals.

Marvin is the son of the late Callie Fox Barker and Marvin Alexander Barker, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Sandra Barker.

Left to cherish his memories are his son Rusty Barker and wife Candice and their children Emilee and Abby. Marvin also leaves behind his brother Mickey Barker and wife Rhonda and their daughter – his niece Amber as well as his aunts Peggy Fox and Violet Fox, and a special friend; Mike “Quinn”. Marvin also leaves behind his beloved dog – Cosmo.

A Celebration of Life for Marvin will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 15, 2016 at Carothers Funeral Home Chapel, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina with Marvin’s close friend Pastor Sam Barnette to officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
