Margaret Juanita (Owens) Sisk, 79, of Lincolnton and formerly of Stanley, slipped away peacefully to her heavenly home on Thursday September 15, 2022. Margaret was at Atrium in Lincolnton when she passed. She had lived in Lincolnton for the last year, but Stanley was her home. She was an active member of Stanley First Free Will Baptist Church for 34 years. She was involved in the bereavement committee and she made and delivered food to church members when there had been a death. She also participated actively in Sunday School, VBS and fundraising activities for the church.
Margaret enjoyed pulling pranks on her family. She was witty and she enjoyed joking around. She never had much to give monetarily but when she gave, she made you work for it unwrapping dollar bills folded into flowers and quarters rolled into ribbons. She never showed favoritism. She treated all her family equally. Her family, her church and her neighbors will all miss her.
Margaret is the daughter of the late Josie (Cameron) Owens and Earl Owens. Her husband, Loyd “Buddy” Nease Sisk preceded her in death 25 years ago in 1997. Margaret was the last of her siblings with all six brothers and sisters passing before her.
Margaret leaves behind her son, Jack Valentine, his wife Ginger, their two daughters, Margaret’s granddaughters, Kayla (Valentine) McSwain and her husband A.J., Savannah (Valentine) Lutz, and her husband Caleb. Many other extended family members are grieving Margaret’s passing.
There will be a celebration of Margaret’s life at 3:00 PM on Monday September 19, 2022 at Stanley First Free Will Baptist Church, 402 Hovis Road, Stanley, NC. The family will receive friend one hour before the service, beginning at 2:00 PM at the church. Pastor Bobby Hildebrand will officiate the service and he will offer words on encouragement and hope to family and friends that gather to remember Margaret. Margaret will be buried beside her late husband, “Buddy,” after the Celebration of Life Service at Hillcrest Gardens in Mount Holly.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Margaret’s name to her church, Stanley First Free Will Baptist Church, 402 Hovis Road, Stanley, NC 28164.
Fond memories of Margaret and condolences for the family may be left at www.carothersfuneralhomestanley.com.
