Margaret Lucille (Tino) Robinson, 102, of Gastonia passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday November 6, 2022. Margaret was born in Ware Shoals, SC to the late Maude Pegg (Thompson) Tino and Oscar D. Tino. Margaret was a committed Christian and an active member of Fairview Baptist Church where she was a member for over 73 years. She previously taught Sunday School and was involved in many activities in the church throughout the years. Margaret was a very warm and accepting person with a wild streak. Margaret was valedictorian of her 8th Grade Class. She loved the color red and was ready to go bungie jumping for her 80th birthday, but unfortunately, it was closed. Margaret had an open door and she considered everyone family. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She worked at Firestone Mill and Pharr yarns before retiring from Homelite Texton. Margaret’s family, church family, friends and neighbors will all miss her.
Her husband, G. K. Robinson, precedes Margaret in death. Her daughter, Carol Pearson, sister Florence Shepard and her brothers Bill Tino and Jack Tino also precede her in death. Her grandsons Doug Robinson and Joseph Morgan also went on before her.
Margaret leaves behind her daughters Patty Penley and husband Scott of Clover, SC, Sharon Lawson and husband Tommy of Shelby, Teresa Purkey and husband Jon of Gastonia and sons Jerry Robinson and wife Eleanor of Charlotte, Ted Robinson and wife Mary of Gastonia, Danny Robinson and wife Kathy of Clover, SC, Jeffrey Robinson of Clover, SC and Jeremy Robinson of Belmont. Her Son-In-Law, Don Pearson of Belmont is also a survivor. Margaret’s legacy includes 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday November 12, 2022 at Fairview Baptist Church, 1706 W. Davidson Ave., Gastonia. The family will receive friends for two hours before the service beginning at 12:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow the celebration of life service and Margaret will be laid to rest next to her husband at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia. The family requests that you wear something red, her favorite color, in honor of Margaret. Reverend Ray Walters will officiate and Reverends Greg Ballard and Andy Raines will participate in the service. Tracy Pearson, Allen Robinson, Chris Lawson, Caleb Robinson, Michael Robinson and David Robinson are Margaret’s pallbearers.
