Louise Bradley Auten

Louise Bradley Auten, age 96 of Gastonia, NC died peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024 surrounded by family. She was born in Gaston County, NC on March 5, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Edgar Bradshaw Bradley and Jessie Milton Bradley.

She graduated from Lowell High School and the former Gaston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a lifetime member of Bradley Church which was founded by her grandfather, the late Rev. F.W. Bradley. She retired from Homelite Textron after 35 years as a plant nurse and was an avid bowler for many years.

She was caring, courageous and independent, and loved her family dearly. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jane Avery and husband, Mark of Belmont, NC; sons, Steve Auten of Angier, NC and Jeff Auten of Clover, SC; stepdaughter, Gail Haynes and husband, Bob of Belmont, NC; stepson, Tommy Auten and wife, Scarlett of Summerfield, FL; grandchildren, Ashley Auten of Clover, SC, Wesley Auten of Asheville, NC, Bradley Avery and wife, Andrea of Raleigh, NC, Matthew Avery and wife, Hannah of Charlotte, NC and step-granddaughter, Stephanie Lawless and husband, Charles of Mt. Holly, NC; great-grandsons, Mason Walker and Liam Poole of Clover, SC; and numerous special nieces and nephews who she held close to her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Florene Heaton and husband, Robert, and Mary Grindle and husband, Ace; brother, Hugh Bradley and wife, Sarah; nephew, David Heaton; and niece, Kelly Bradley Welch.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Ms. Auten will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, NC 28054. Reverend Debra Short from Bradley Church will officiate.
