Larry Dean Hester, age 69, of Blacksburg, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, May 08, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Mt. Holly and was the son of the late Essie Mae Hester and was married to Carolyn Westmoreland for 21 years.
Mr. Hester was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He retired as a Supervisor with Knit Craft of Belmont. He was an avid fan of leisurely fishing on a Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Hester is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Lynn Pike and husband James of Lake Tahoe, California, Lori Dawn Teague and husband Greg of Dallas, Cindy Kay Barnette and husband Brad of Taylorsville, North Carolina; one sister, Evelyn Painter of Gastonia; four grandchildren; one great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. Monday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church, Dallas with Rev. Sherman Branch officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Hester was preceded in death by his mother; brother, Ronald Underdown; sister, Sue Ann Morlock.
