Kenneth Robert Sherrill, 72, of Gastonia, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at The Robin Johnson House with his loving family by his side. He was born in Gastonia and was the son of the late Fred Eugene and Jewel Rhodes Sherrill.
Mr. Sherrill was a retired textile employee, former owner of Sherrill’s Heating and Air Conditioning Company and former employee of Gaston Memorial Park.
Mr. Sherrill is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kay Seagle Sherrill; two daughters, Dana Atchley and husband Chad of Gastonia, Denise Hanlin and husband Kenny of Vale; one brother, Donald Eugene Sherrill and wife Carolyn of Blacksburg, South Carolina; three sisters, Vera Calder and Linda King and husband Lonnie of Gastonia, Geraldine Moore and husband Ronnie of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren, Amanda Shirley and husband Chris Stallings of Durham, Jenna Wood of Shelby, Chelsie Thibault of King, North Carolina, Dara Long and Andrew Atchley of Gastonia, Tanner Short of Cherryville; one great grandson, Chase Brooks of Shelby; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Gilley officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
Mr. Sherrill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve Sherrill.
