Juanita (Mathis) White, 72, of Gastonia passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday January 18, 2024. Juanita is the daughter of the late Jessie (Blair McAlister) Mathis and Theodore Mathis. Juanita loved sewing and quilting. She was family focused and her love was spending time with her sons, her grandchildren and their families. Juanita touched many lives and many will dearly miss her.
Her parents and her son, James “Jamie” Roosevelt Gibson, precede Juanita in death. Her sisters Lorena Messer and Katie Phillips as well as brothers Teddy Mathis and Jessie Mathis have also gone on before her.
Cherishing their memories are her son Buddy Gibson and his wife Dusty of Gastonia, Scott Gibson and his wife Kristie of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, and her forever husband, James Gibson. Missing their grandmother and charged with carrying her legacy are her grandchildren; Britney Gibson and her husband Brandon, Eric Gibson, Leighann Gibson and her wife Haley, Scottie Gibson, Connor Gibson, Erica Wade and her husband Matt, T.J. Wade, Jessica Gibson and her husband Dustin, Christa Wade, Cheyenne Roseberry and her husband Daniel and Brooke Brown. Her legacy includes 15 great-grandchildren; Aiden Tester, Aubri Baker, Ethen Tester, Lesa Coffey, Chris Jacobs, Jeremiah Jacobs, Cinthea Horne, Sterling Bowen, Mason Wade, Carleigh Bowen, Leland Roseberry, Freya Roseberry, Raegan Wade, Magnolia Roseberry and Landon Hussey.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
