He was preceded in death by his parents Elzie and Marie Moore, an infant sister, and a brother Oll Daniel Moore.
John was born in Cocke County, TN, but spent most of his life in North Carolina. He was a believer in the Christian faith, endowed with three gifts from God; music, singing, and dreams. Musically, John had the ability to perform with a variety of instruments, such as the guitar, piano, mandolin, fiddle, and many others. After his long-term career in textiles, he later retired from Lowes and Hampton Inn.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Clevenger Moore, and two sons, Abraham and wife Sherry, and Isaac and wife Cynthia. His sons were the “joy of his life” and the two he was always “there for” regardless of the situation.
Grandchildren: Madison E. Moore, Nathan I. Moore, Timothy Price and Brittany Price Thompson with five great-grandchildren; Aubree, Tucker, Mallory, Sawyer, and Mckinley Thompson.
He was also survived by his three sisters Carolyn McDermott, Renie McKey, and Suzie Anderson. In addition, two brothers Ralph and Sherrill Moore.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Gaston Memorial Park.
