transitioned peacefully at the age of 66, on Friday, May 19th at the Lifepath Hospice House in Ruskin, FL. She battled two types of cancer for seven years before making her journey home to Heaven.
Jeanne was a former member of the gospel group, the Joy of Youth Singers, directed by her mother Joy Armstrong Huffstickler, who preceded her in death. She also sang backup vocals for her brother, David Huffstickler, who also preceded her in death. Jeanne was a graduate of North Gaston High School, class of 1975. Jeanne earned an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Technology degree from Gaston College. She spent her career in textiles and managerial retail.
Jeanne had a passion for helping others, spending time with friends and family, reading, camping, being outside in nature, going to see live music, and taking care of dogs. She was a mother to so many children that were not her own. Over her lifetime, she took in more than 27 people who were in need of shelter. Jeanne was a very unique and amazing woman who touched the lives of everyone around her.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her father, County Jay, stepmothers Iris Jay and Maryanne Mecca, her godmother, Connie Dawkins, and her ex-husband & the father of her children Ricky Dale Human. She was survived by her son Michael Dale Human and his wife Kristy, her daughter Christina Dawn Human, grandchildren: Nicholas Human, Dylan Human, and Nadia Human, brother Stephen Huffstickler and his wife Debbie, Sisters: Carolyn Huffstickler Cernuto, Sharon Kelly Brown and her husband Weyman, several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Jeanne’s Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday June 3, 2023 at Community Baptist Church, 823 Dallas Stanley Highway, Dallas, North Carolina. The family will receive friends, at the church, before the service from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
