Janice “Jan” Fay (Horne) Johnson of Lincolnton, NC went home to be with the Lord June 9, 2020. She was a talented songwriter and worshipped the Lord through her love of writing gospel music. Jan enjoyed taking long car rides through the country. She was a talented southern cook and truly cherished her family.
Jan is the daughter of the late Fannie C. (Long) and John B. Horne. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Earle and Catheline Horne along with five brothers, Harold Horne, Benny Horne, Reverend Leonard Horne, John Horne, and Jim Horne.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years, Calvin Johnson. Grieving the loss of their mother are her three beloved daughters and two sons, Cindy Wech & husband, Steve, of Stanley, NC; Darlene Simpson & husband, David, of Stanley, NC; Margaret Wooten & husband, Jr., of Lincolnton, NC; Tony Brown & wife, Mary, of Love Valley, NC and Eric Johnson of Cherryville, NC. Janice leaves behind six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Missing their sister is Gaye Arrowood & husband, Terry, of Mount Holly, NC; Brenda Osborne of Canton, IL; and Reverend G.W. Horne & wife, Katherine, of Alexis, NC.
A celebration of Jan’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Carothers Funeral Home Chapel, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC. The family will receive friends an hour before the service beginning at 12:00 pm in the chapel. Entombment in the Mausoleum of Peace at Gaston Memorial Park will follow the chapel service. Pastor Michael Horne will be offering words of peace and encouragement to family and friends as they remember Jan. Charlie Osborne, John Osborne, Chad Welch, Junior Wooten, Carlos Rivera, and Juan Martinez.
