Singing with his Heavenly Choir and with his Lord and Savior is where Horace Carlton Robinson, age 98 of Dallas, North Carolina will be spending eternity….Horace was a long time Choir Director at Mount Beulah Baptist Church. For the past 20 years, he was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church of Dallas where he served as a deacon and choir member... Horace will be known for many things, but being a man of God was his greatest trait. He loved to read his Bible daily.
A man who was determined to complete what he started, a man who loved to garden and fish, a man who loved his family greatly. Horace retired from Firestone Textiles after 45 years of dedicated service.
He was the son of the late George Robinson and Nell West Robinson. Horace was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Ethel Funderburk of 67 ½ years along with one son: Wayne Robinson; one sister: Dorothy Walker and two brothers: Max Robinson and Lione Robinson.
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter and son in law Joy and Ken Strange of Dallas, North Carolina; two sisters: Ann Wiley of Belmont, North Carolina and Martha Badger of Hurst, Texas; one sister in law: Abby Robinson of Gastonia, North Carolina; one granddaughter and her husband: Nelda and Jerry Humphries of Dallas, North Carolina; one grandson: Keith Boling of Dallas, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Dallas, North Carolina with Reverend Steve Weaver to officiate. Active pallbearers are Bobby Allen, Lawson Allen, Glenn Ballard, Andy Harris, Wayne Honeycutt and Charles Wright. Honorary pallbearers are George Clemmer, Harold Greene and Wayne Noah.
Graveside service will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054.
