Phil graduated from Gardner Webb University. He retired from Wix Corporation with 22 years of service. Phil was a dedicated volunteer with the Rhyne Volunteer Fire Department and with CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Phil was deeply faithful and served as an Elder at Linwood Presbyterian Church for most of his adult life. He was a wonderful spouse, father, grandfather and friend. Phil was beloved for his great sense of humor and never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing and watching sports and was an avid golfer and bowler.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his first wife of 48 years, Katie Lindsay.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Naomi C. Caldwell-Lindsay; children, Phyllis Davis and husband Roger, Dottie Cobb and husband Don, Carol Wells, Beth Huffman and husband Mark, Phil Lindsay, Jr. and wife Jeanine; stepdaughter, Cindy Caldwell; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Sallie C. Howell and husband Jim.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 29, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Gastonia with the burial to immediately follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
