Gary Lloyd Patterson

Gary Lloyd Patterson, 75, of Dallas, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday June 27, 2023 at CaroMont Hospital in Gastonia after a short illness. Gary was born on November 1, 1947 in Shelby, North Carolina. Gary proudly served his country in The United States Navy. After the Navy, he had many jobs, but he was best known as a Commercial Printer. Gary loved his guns and you could often find him at the local shooting ranges practicing with his firearms. He also enjoyed golf and fishing. In his younger days, he was a league bowler with his wife Shirley. He had so many trophies that it filled a room in his house. He loved his family and he was a hard worker. Many will miss Gary.

Preceding Gary in death are his parents, his wife, Shirley (McKinnish) Patterson, and his twin brother Larry Patterson.

Gary leaves behind his daughter Angela Dover and her husband Randy of Kings Mountain and

his stepson, Randy McKinnish and his wife Lisa of Gastonia. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren: Christina Tomlenson, Megan McKinnish, Randy Dover, Jr. and Tara Armstrong.

Gary was a simple man and he did not want an elaborate funeral. The family is planning a simple graveside service at 11:00 am on Monday July 3, 2023 in The Garden of Time at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia. Reverend Roger Overton, of Second Baptist Church in Mount Holly, will officiate. The United State Navy will render military honors for Gary. Gary will be laid to rest by his devoted wife of over 40 years, Shirley (McKinnish) Patterson.
