Born in Gastonia, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Katie Setzer Rhyne. Floyd attended Gastonia High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany as a teletype operator. He worked for many years as a car salesman for Piedmont Motors Lincoln-Mercury Dealership, Earl Tindol Ford, and Sonny Hancock Mazda. He was a member of First ARP Church.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gloria Bolch Rhyne; a son, Dean Rhyne; a granddaughter, Amanda Rhyne; two great granddaughters, Sophia and Leila; eight nephews and two nieces; and a sister-in-law, Lois Rhyne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Banks and Carl Rhyne; and a sister, Louise Parks.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Gaston Memorial Park.
